Generalist Teacher
Warwick “Wasa” Dundas
I have always loved sport and all that comes with it. The game, the skills, the teamwork and much more. With the opportunity early in my life to play basketball and then involvement as a coach, I realised I had a passion for helping others learn and this led me into a career in education. During university I discovered the outdoors through several elective subjects. What a wonderful place it was to learn about yourself through a variety of challenges and experiences. Since then, I have worked in Melbourne, Yea, Maffra and Bendigo teaching Outdoor Education, Physical Education and Health.
I have always held as my mantra that ‘a measure of my success was whether or not I had made a positive influence in a young person’s life’. At Gnurad-Gundidj, I have been given that opportunity to make a real difference! Watching our students flourish, being able to share their journey and be there for significant moments is such a privilege and extremely rewarding. For example, in a recent canoe expedition the group decided to pack up in darkness and be on the water to watch the sunrise. We paddled for some time in silence. Very special!
I have retired from playing and coaching basketball but are now passionate about cycling, mountain and gravel along with exploring the southwest of Victoria. Another bonus is spending time at the coast and all that it offers, together with my wife, Susie.
